It was Kanyatta Gatling's week to shine in Southern States Athletic Conference women's basketball. The 6-foot-2 junior center from Griffin, Ga. was named the SSAC Player of the Week after helping the Lady Barons defeat non-conference opponent Morris College (96-59) and the SSAC's Auburn University Montgomery, 69-58. Gatling posted double-double numbers in each victory - 15 points and 12 boards against Morris and 24 points and 14 rebounds in a key decision over AUM.

For the week, Gatling averaged almost 20 points and 13 rebounds. She also dominated on defense with nine blocks (4.5 rpg). From the field, Gatling shot (13-of-19) 68 percent for the 9-17 Lady Barons.
