Chris WatersAllen Ponder of Auburn Montgomery and Matt McCalley was named the SSAC Co-Pitcher of the Week this afternoon. Lee's Chris Warters earned the Player of the Week honor.

Allen Ponder was selected as one of the SSAC Pitcher of the Week after three strong closing performances against conference rival Shorter College. The senior finished with two saves and a win in the three-game series with the Hawks. He allowed only a single run and tallied seven strikeouts in five innings. Ponder entered game two in a bases loaded situation and quickly eliminated the threat. The pitcher not only had a strong presence on the mound that game, but at the plate as well. In the top of the seventh Ponder cranked a three-run homer to seal the victory. He is currently 5-1 on the season and leads the team with five saves.


Matt McCalley was also selected as SSAC Pitcher of the Week after four outstanding relief performances.  McCalley did not allow a run to score in 5.2 innings of work as he pitched his way to a pair of wins and two saves in four appearances during the week. He struck out four batters and only allowed four hits and one walk. McCalley is a perfect 5-0 this season and leads the team with seven saves.


Lee's Chris Warters earned the conference's Player of the Week honor after batting .588 (10-for-17) over five games. The junior had a hit in every contest and compiled four home runs, four doubles, six scored runs and 10 RBIs. Warters had an incredible game against Cumberland University where he went 4-for-4 with two homers, a pair of doubles and racked up four RBIs. This is his second Player of the Week honor of the season.
