ATLANTA -- The Southern States Athletic Conference named Faulkner's Nicole Jagt and Berry's Christie Latimer as Women's Soccer Player of the Week on Mon. Jagt was the top offensive player in the conference, while Latimer was the top defensive player.

Jagt a native of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada earned the SSAC Offensive Player of the Week award after scoring six goals and providing two assists to help her team go 2-1 for the week. The junior forward had two goals and an assist as Faulkner beat a ranked Brenau team 3-1 for a major SSAC upset. Jagt  added three goals and an assist as the Lady Eagles beat Emmanuel 4-2 at home and also had the lone Faulkner goal in a 1-4 loss to Reinhardt.

Latimer earned the SSAC Defensive Player of the Week award after helping Berry go 1-1 for the week. The center-back from Alpharetta, Ga. helped lead  Berry offense that kept Reinhardt from registering a shot on goal during the first half of a match against Reinhardt. The Vikings lost in overtime but allowed just three shots on goal. In the next match, Latimer converted the match-winning penalty kick in Berry's 3-1 win over Shorter.  The win over the Lady Hawks helped Berry finish second in the SSAC regular season standings. With that comes the No. 2 seed in the SSAC Tournament, which begins on Nov. 7.
