ATLANTA -- On Mon., the Southern States Athletics Conference announced Auburn-Montgomery goalkeeper Jennifer Davis as the final Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week Award winner of the year. The league also tabbed Berry's Shannon Hackett as the final SSAC Offensive Player of the Week for women's soccer this season.
Hackett, a forward/midfielder from Sugar Hill, Ga. had two goals and an assist in Berry's 7-1 win over Faulkner in the quarterfinals of the SSAC Tournament. The junior opened the scoring for the No. 17-ranked Lady Vikings in the fifth minute of the match with a solid individual effort in which she headed  a long pass in behind the Faulkner defense and out-paced her mark to the ball to score on a one-on-one breakaway. Hackett scored again in the match and also assisted on a later goal as the second-seeded Viking dispatched of the Eagles 7-1.

AUM had a tougher row to hoe in its playoff match against Brenau. The sixth-seeded Lady Senators played a tough game and managed to upset No. 3-seed, Brenau 1-0 on the strength of Davis' third shutout of the year. The junior goalkeeper from Prattville, Ala. had eight saves in the match to help AUM earn the win and advance to the SSAC semifinals. Davis set the AUM single-season saves record this season with 110 so far and counting.

The two women's soccer Player of the Week winners will meet in the SSAC Semifinal on Tues. at 2 p.m. in a match hosted at Berry's Ford Field. Last year the two teams met in the semi's in a classic match that ended tied after overtime. Berry advanced on penalties.

The other conference semifinal will pit Lee against Shorter in Cleveland, Tenn. The defending conference champion Lady Flames will look to claim a fifth, straight SSAC Tournament title since joining the SSAC in 2004-05. Shorter claimed a 3-2 come-from-behind win in its quarterfinal playoff match against Reinhardt.
