Atlanta, Ga. - Lee University's Katie Nelson averaged 19 points and 13.5 rebounds in the Lady Flames' two games last week, to earn the Southern States Athletic Conference's Player of the Week honors for the week ending Jan. 11.
elson had a career-high 18 rebounds in leading the 6th-ranked Lady
Flames to an 80-63 SSAC win over Brenau University. She also had 16
points, two steals and two blocks in the win. Nelson is averaging 19.3
ppg and 8.8 rpg this season and is shooting 58
percent from the field and 70 percent from the free throw line.
This is the second Player of the Week selection on the season, and the
first award for Nelson. She will now advance to the National Player of
the Week voting, which will be announced tomorrow evening by the NAIA.
The next Player of the Week selection will be on Monday, Jan. 19.
