Atlanta, Ga. - Katie Nelson, a junior forward from Scottsboro, Ala., has been
picked as the Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the
Southern States Athletic Conference for games played Jan. 19 through Jan. 25.
Nelson recorded her seventh and eighth double-doubles of the season in
helping direct the Lady Flames to a pair of SSAC wins and move into first place in the conference standings. She averaged 23 points
and 11 rebounds for the week and is currently shooting over 56 percent
from the field and over nine rebounds per game.
Nelson helping Lee
established a new Lee scoring record (117 points) with 22 points and 10
boards in only 21 minutes of action against Reinhardt College.
Nelson will now advance to the National Player of the Week voting, which will be announced tomorrow evening by the NAIA.
The next Player of the Week selection will be on Monday, Feb. 2.
