ROME, Ga. -- Valeriya Musina hit a three-pointer with one minute to play to tie the score at 71-71 and helped top-seeded Lee women's basketball team earn a hard-faught 76-71 win over No. 8-seed Brewton Parker on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. No. 6 Lee improves to 26-5 for the year, while the Lady Barons end the year 15-15.
Musina was the leading scorer for the Lady Flames with 22 points. Katie Nelson finished with 20 points for the Flames. Kayce Addison and Brooke McKinnon also finished in double-digits with 10 points each.

Shelby Pauling led Brewton Parker with 16 points and was 4-for-6 from three-point range. Tanisha Murray had 15 points for the Lady Barons and Kenyatta Gatling had 12 points. Four Lady Barons reached double-figures, as Zaneta Howard also posted 11 points.

The BPC defense was pesky throughout the game and forced Lee into 28 turnovers in the game. However, the Lady Flames overcame the turnover difficulties with a 40-26 rebounding advantage over the Lady Barons.

The No. 1-seed Lady Flames will face the No. 4-seeded Lady Hawks from Shorter tomorrow in the SSAC Tournament semifinals at 2 p.m. in Berry's Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center.
