ROME, Ga. -- The host Berry women's basketball team won 66-62 over Southern Polytechnic on Friday at the Steven J. Cage Athletic and Recreation Center to advance to the Championship game of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament. The Lady Vikings improve to 18-13 heading into the championship game, while SPSU finishes the year 19-13. 
With the game tied at 62-62 under one minute to play, Kayla Carlisle hit the game-winning jumper for Berry. The Lady Vikings' defense held and Holly Compton and Carlisle hit free throws down the stretch to ice the game.
 
Compton led Berry with 18 points in the game and had a game-high five assists. Carlisle finished with 10 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Three Berry players finished in double-digits as LaKisha Bryant hit three, three-pointers to finish with 11 points.
 
Southern Poly's Tiffany Scales was the game's leading scorer with 23 points. Both Chalescia Hanks and Aurielle Morgan added 11 points for the Lady Hornets.
 
The No. 3-seed Berry now advances to meet No. 1-seed Lee in the SSAC Women's Basketball Tournament Championship Game tomorrow at 5 p.m. Both Berry and Lee will recieve automatic bids to the NAIA National Championship Tournament.
