
The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) recently announced that Walgreens is joined Musco Lighting as one of the first corporate partners partnership with the SSAC. This year's sponsorship was entered into early in 2009 is primarily centered on them as the presenting sponsor of the SSAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championship. The SSAC leadership is confident that this relationship will flourish and hope this year's sponsorship will lead to Walgreens becoming one of the four "primary and founding" sponsors of the SSAC.
Since 1901 Walgreens has been committed to building stronger communities. "The Pharmacy America Trusts," has locations in most of the SSAC member institutions communities and in some cases multiple locations. Walgreens has been a welcome and dependable presence in countless neighborhoods across the country for more than 100 years.
"We are excited that Walgreens is one of the first major sponsors of the SSAC. We hope that this year's sponsorship is just the beginning to what could become a great partnership between the two organizations," remarked Southern States Athletic Conference Commissioner Kurt Patberg.
Per the agreement, Walgreens will lend its name to the SSAC Men's and Women's Basketball Championships this year as its presenting sponsor. The SSAC Men's Basketball Championship presented by Walgreens will be held Thursday-Saturday, March 5-7 at Shorter College in Rome, Ga. The SSAC Women's Basketball Championship presented by Walgreens will also be held in Rome on the same dates at Berry College. Both tournaments consist of the top eight teams in the conference competing in single-elimination style bracket to earn the automatic qualification to the NAIA Division I national tournament. The Walgreen's location at the corner of Martha Berry Highway and Shorter Drive will serve as the host store for this event.
