Cassie Lassiter
Brenau's Cassie Lassiter pitched the second perfect game in program history Saturday in an 8-0 five-inning gem against Brewton Parker at the Lanier Point Softball Complex in Gainesville. Lassiter struck out three and helped her own cause with a 2-3 effort at the plate, including a home run and two RBIs.She is currently sporting a 1.29 ERA, which ranks fifth in the SSAC and is carrying a .434 batting average, third in the conference. Brenau is currently ranked 16th in the NAIA, their first national ranking in program history with a 19-2 season record. They are leading the SSAC with an 8-0 conference mark. "The addition of Cassie to our team, along with the other eight seniors, has taken us to another level competitively and we can now play with the top teams in the country," said Coach Devon Thomas, who started the softball program six years ago at Brenau and has steadily built it into its current place among the elite teams in the SSAC. The Tigers will host perennial conference power Lee University Wednesday in an important matchup that will go a long way in determining the conference champion.
