For only the second time in Lee University volleyball history, the Lady Flames posted a victory over the University of Alabama at Huntsville. Not only did coach Andrea Hudson's team win, they did it in convincing style, sweeping three games 30-21, 30-23, 30-25.

"I was pleasantly surprised at how easily we won," said coach Hudson after watching her Lady Flames move to 5-0 on the year and score their 59th straight home-court win. "We still have a long way to go and have several areas to work on. It was good to see how well our team performed against a talented team like Alabama-Huntsville."

The Lady Flames wasted little time in taking command of the contest against an always powerful NCAA Division II program. It was evident from the middle of the first game that the Lady Chargers would be no match for the Lady Flames on this night.

The powerful Lee attack was paced by Bojana Vulin. The senior recorded 14 kills. She also had three digs and added a block. Sophomore Naiara Fernandes followed with 12 kills, five digs and a block. Bruna Langner came away with nine kills and two blocks.

"This is Bojana's senior year and I think she really wants this team to perform as well as possible," said coach Hudson. "I think you can see by the look in her eyes how much this season means to her."

While Vulin, Fernandes and Langner were pacing the attack up front, senior Lisa Kidwell was turning in her usual steady performance at the setter position. Kidwell had 30 assists, one ace and 10 digs. Freshman Katie Thornton came away with 13 assists and five digs.

The impressive victory set the tone for a tough road trip for the Lady Flames. They will head for Oregon on Wednesday and challenge a couple of really strong opponents in Bellevue University and College of St. Mary. They will also be pitted against Lewis Clark State and host Concordia University in the two-day event.
