
ROME, Ga.-The Auburn University at Montgomery men's tennis team defeated Lee University 5-0 to win the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament Championship. The Senators had defeated Shorter College 5-0 on Friday in the quarterfinals to make it to the championship.
AUM swept all three doubles matches by the same scores of 8-2 and got the necessary singles wins from Monte Tucker and Nikola Miskovic to bring home the crown.
Head coach Anuk Christiansz was named the SSAC Coach of the Year and AUM senior Victor Sanakai Papi was named the SSAC Player of the Year.
Joining Sanakai Papi on the All-Conference team were Michael Johnson, Tucker, Sadio Doumbia, Francisco Redondo, Nikola Miskovic and Jean-Olivier Hebert.
With the win the Senators move to 18-2 on the season. AUM will be one of the top seeds at the NAIA National Championship which will begin May 11 in Mobile, Ala.
