2009 SSAC Softball Co-Champs
The Brenau Golden Tigers softball team defeated Reinhardt in Waleska Sunday, 2-0 and 4-2 to finish the regular season in the SSAC at 26-6, which ties them with Lee for the conference championship, the first in school history.  The Tigers will enter the SSAC Conference Tournament as the #1 seed by virtue of winning three of the four games played between the two schools.Brenau's overall season record of 39-8 and #12 ranking in the NAIA are also program bests in the six-year history of softball at the school.  Coach Devon Thomas has served as the only coach of the sport and has steadily built it into a contender.  The Tigers played six games in three days to finish their season, four of which were on the road at Faulkner and Reinhardt, to pull off the improbable feat.  They had to win all four road games after splitting their last home doubleheader with third place Shorter on Friday.  Brenau's only other conference championships were won by the tennis team, the last of which was in 2006.
