For what appears to be the first time in the history of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), three teams will represent one conference in the ten-team NAIA Baseball Championship. This tournament hosted by last year's national champion Lewis and Clark State University will be held in Lewiston, Idaho from May 22-29. Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) members Berry College (GA), Lee University, and Southern Polytechnic State University are currently making their travel plans to attend the national tournament. #1 first round seeds, Berry College and Southern Poly advanced while Lee won its First Round tournament as a #2 seed. Auburn University-Montgomery, a #4 seed, worked its way through the loser's bracket and was eliminated in the finals by Emory Riddle, a #1 seed and the #6 ranked team.
Berry finished the season ranked #4 in the country and was the SSAC Regular Champions and is 45-14. SPSU finished the regular season with a #6 national ranking and won the SSAC Championship Tournament and enters the national tournament with a record of 51-8. Lee enters the tournament with a record of 50-12 and a #8 national ranking. Lee played in the national championship game last year again Lewis and Clark State.
The SSAC was also the only conference gaining bids to the host two of the nine First Round Tournaments. Berry College and Lee University were both host sites.
The official bracket has been released with Berry and SPSU meeting up in the first round on Friday.
