Barons Ace Randy Hamrick
MOUNT VERNON-The Arizona Diamondbacks selected Brewton-Parker College right-handed pitcher Randy Hamrick in the 19th round of the 2009 First-Year Players Draft June 10.

Hamrick, a 6'2", 195 lbs. fifth year senior from Vero Beach, Fla., was the Barons' ace all season, said Head Coach Greg "Boo" Mullins. Hamrick led the team with a 2.80 ERA, and led the conference with 99 strikeouts in the regular season.

When asked about being drafted by the Diamondbacks, Randy said, "I'm ecstatic.  I can't believe it.  I've been waiting for this my whole life.  My Dad was there to give me a big hug, which is kind of a big deal because he used to play minor league [baseball] for the Dodgers.  Of course I called Coach Mullins right afterwards because I wouldn't be here without all of his support."

Randy will be reporting to Arizona shortly, where he will be given his league assignment.
