ATLANTA, Ga. - Lee University, after rallying last season to win the tournament championship has been again voted to win the SSAC regular season championship. Lee is the SSAC coaches' pick to win the conference title in 2009 by posting all 49 points including all seven of the first place votes. Last season was the first year the Lady Flames did not win the SSAC regular season title since they have joined the SSAC in 2004 getting edged out by Berry College. Lee was the SSAC representative in the NAIA national tournament and finished with an overall record of 29-10 and 14-2 in the conference.

Shorter who played Lee in the tournament finals in 2008, was picked to finish second in the league with 40 points, while Faulkner who finished the season at .500 in the league and in outside competition was picked third. Southern Wesleyan who tied for third in 2008 at 9-7 was selected to finish fourth with 27 points.

This year's tournament that decides the automatic qualifier into the NAIA national tournament will be a single elimination tournament help in Cleveland, Tenn. on November 14
