MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Coach Andrea Hudson reached another remarkable milestone in her career on Saturday afternoon when Lee defeated Faulkner University, 3-0. It was Hudson's 600th college volleyball coaching victory.

All of the victories have come at her alma mater and Hudson said that makes her extremely proud. She took over the Lee program in its infant stages and developed it into a perennial NAIA top 25 power. Teaming with her husband, Kevin, Andrea now ranks eighth on the NAIA active coaching list. She is the 17th all-time winningest NAIA volleyball coach and has won over 73 percent of her games over the past 18 1/2 years.

It was ironic that the veteran coach also claimed her 500th victory over Faulkner some 2 1/2 years ago. Paul Swanson (Mt. Vernon Nazarene) leads the NAIA in total wins. He claimed his 900th coaching decision earlier in the week.

The Lady Flames improved to 13-4 with Saturday's win. They captured the first set 25-16 and then coasted to 25-12 and 25-18 margins. Lee returns to Walker Arena on Tuesday night and will host Brenau University in another SSAC contest scheduled for 7 p.m.

"It was really neat, having the girls help me celebrate the win," said Hudson after being presented with a signed volleyball and a bouquet of flowers. "I had a funny thought just before this match. I was thinking back at sitting on the bench and watching our girls warm up for 600 matches, and that's not counting the matches we lost. Everyone is always joking about how long volleyball warm-up time takes."

The coach added, "It's me, Kevin and the staff on the bench, but it is the girls that are winning the matches on the floor. This is a win for the entire school. It just shows how far our program has come and the support of volleyball has improved over the last 19 years. These wins would not have been possible without our players and Kevin."

In Saturday's win, Kayla Carlisle paved the way with 10 kills and six blocks. Stephanie Todd followed with seven kills, while Gorana Maric and Vedrana Krsmanovic added five slams apiece. Kelsey Leffew contributed 15 assists. Sara Smith was credited with 11 digs.

While Hudson was reaching another milestone, so was senior Milica Krsmanovic. She registered seven aces in the win and now has over 200 for her outstanding career. Krsmanovic earlier reached 1,000 kills and 500 blocks.
