Coach Andrea Hudson and her Lee University volleyball team will make the long trip home from Portland, Ore as a very happy group. Late Saturday night the Lady Flames defeated host Concordia University to carry home championship honors.
Lee went 4-0, including a huge win over 7th-ranked College of St. Mary (Neb.) earlier Saturday, to earn the Concordia Invitational crown. The 9th-ranked and surging Lady Flames are now 9-0 for the young 2004 season.
Again it was senior Bojana Vulin directing the victorious attack. She recorded 13 kills and eight digs. The four-game effort earned the outside hitter the tournament's most valuable player award. Naiara Fernandes also was named to the all-tournament team.
Bruna Langner enjoyed one of her best contests of the season. The middle blocker came away with 14 kills, three blocks and 14 digs. Missy Elser contributed two aces and nine digs. Freshman Katie Thornton delivered 18 assists and three digs. Lisa Kidwell joined in with 16 assists and, one ace and two digs.
