Former Lee University baseball standout Lance Zawadzki (2007) will be playing in the Rising Stars Game on Saturday (Nov. 7). The contest will be televised on the MLB Network and on MLB.com and will be played at Surprise Stadium in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Zawadzki, who is certainly a rising star in the Sand Diego Padres organization and played Double-A ball in San Antonio, Texas this past season, is among a select group playing in the Arizona Fall League.

 

The roster for the Rising Stars Game is loaded with first round draft picks and a large group of predicted future major leaguers. In fact, the starting pitchers from the East/West Divisions will be No. 1 pick Stephen Strasburg (Washington Nationals) and Atlanta Braves first-round pick, Mike Minor.

 

Scouting and minor-league directors of every major-league organization, in consultation with Fall League Director Steve Cobb and his baseball personnel staff selected the players for the showcase. Each major-team organization is represented by at least one player.

 

"The nation will have the opportunity to see a sampling of the array of talent that is on display in the Arizona Fall League, six days a week for six weeks," Cobb said. "We are proud to showcase some of the top prospects in baseball to a national viewing audience for the first time in the Rising Star Game on Saturday night."
