MONTGOMERY-Yuki Kariya, Stefan Arnarson and Richonne Clark all scored goals in leading Auburn University at Montgomery to a 3-1 win over Shorter College in the semifinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.

Shorter broke out on top in the seventh minute when Kyle Timberlake received a pass from John Calderwood for a 1-0 lead.

It only took two minutes for the Senators to even the score as Sveinn Jonsson took a shot from in front of the goal, and Yuki Kariya came in and knocked in the Jonsson's miss for the tying score.

The score stood that way until the 37th minute when Stefan Arnarson out-battled a Shorter defender and goal keeper to knock in an unassisted goal for a 2-1 lead, and AUM would never trail again.

The Senators tacked on a final goal50 seconds later when Clark took a perfect pass from Arnarson and blasted a goal past the Shorter keeper for the final 3-1 lead.

AUM had a couple of chances to score in the second half but one of Kariya's shots went off the cross bar, and the Senators had another shot ricochet off the post.

Kile Kennedy was once again in goal, and picked up six saves in the shutout. It was his sixth shutout of the season.

AUM moves to14-3-2 overall and Shorter falls to 12-6-2. The Senators now move into the tournament finals and will face the winner of the Southern Polytech and Lee University match.
