In the first match of the 2009 SSAC Volleyball tournament, the Golden Tigers of Brenau University took on the Southern Wesleyan University Lady Warriors. Brenau jumped on top early, taking the first set 25-23, but the Lady Warriors did not quit. Southern Wesleyan won set number two 25-20, before Brenau bounced back to take the third set 25-22. The Lady Warriors staved off elimination in the fourth set 25-17, but they were unable to do so in the fifth, as Brenau took the set 15-7, and the match 3-2. The win earns the Golden Tigers (23-10) a date with top-seeded Lee University (30-5) at 4:45 p.m.
