
Despite falling behind two sets to none on Friday afternoon, the Lady Eagles of Faulkner University (5-24) advanced to the SSAC semifinals with an upset win over Columbia College (24-8). The Lady Eagles dropped the first set 25-21, the only set of the match to be decided by more than two points, and nearly evened the match in the second set before dropping it 26-24. In the third set, Faulkner battled their way to a 27-25 win, and they leveled the score at two games each in the fourth set with a 26-24 win. In set five, Columbia jumped out early, leading 7-3 early in the set, but the Lady Eagles rallied to take the set 15-13, and the match 3-2. The win earns Faulkner the right to play Shorter College (25-8) in the second SSAC semifinal, scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday.
