SWU Men's Basketball Head Coach Charles Wimprhie serves Thanksgiving Dinner at a local church

CENTRAL, S.C. - There are several things to be thankful for during the Thanksgiving holiday. Southern Wesleyan University Men's Basketball Head Coach Charles Wimphrie dismissed his team on Tuesday for the Thanksgiving break, put aside his whistle, and began preparing food for the needy in the Fountain Inn and Simpsonville communities.

On Thanksgiving morning, Wimphrie and members of New Life in Christ Missionary Baptist Church spent the day preparing food, delivering meals, and serving food to individuals who made their way to the church. "I cannot think of a better place to be or a better thing to be doing today," said Wimphrie. "I am thankful to be blessed with the things I have. I have a good job, a wonderful wife and family, a roof over my head and food in my refrigerator. There are people around us who have nothing to eat and will be sleeping in a cardboard box tonight; it's very unfortunate in this day and time. The holiday season is particularly hard on less fortunate families. When given the opportunity, we should always be willing to serve others."
