
DECATUR, Ala. - The No. 2-seed Lee (Tenn.) (18-2-1) put the game away early against No. 15-seed Trinity Christian (Ill.) (14-5-4)with a three goals in the first period, on route to a 4-0 win. The Lady Flames out shot the Trolls 19-13 in the match.
Marina Lima led the charge for the Lady Flames, scoring two goals less than five minutes apart in the first period to give Lee a 2-0 lead. The senior midfielder scored both of her goals off of assists from Lauren Good. The first goal came at the 15 minute mark of the first half and the second came in the 19th minute.
Lee senior Christiane Christensen added a third goal under two minutes later to push the lead to 3-0, where it would stay until halftime.
Trinity Christian held a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks in the first half and a 7-2 advantage in the match but was unable to convert any of the opportunities. Lee's defense stifled the Trinity Christian attack and put the game away for good late when Jamie Achten found the back of the net for a 4-0 lead. The Lady Flames cruised the rest of the way to enjoy a 4-0 win.
Lee will play the winner of the match between the No. 7-seed Martin Methodist (Tenn.) and the No. 10-seed Northwood (Fla.) which takes place at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
