DECATUR, Ala. - A five minute flurry fuels the No. 3-seed California Baptist (17-4-1) to a 3-2 victory over the No. 14-seed Auburn Montgomery (Ala.) (15-5-2). The Lancers scored three goals in under five minutes to take a 3-1 lead in the second period and come away with a 3-2 win.

Auburn Montgomery took a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a goal by sophomore defender Heather Welch in the 26th minute and seemed to control the game for the majority of the first period despite being out shot 10 to eight. The Lady Senators carried a 1-0 lead into the intermission.

Once California Baptist got off the snide with a goal from sophomore forward Fabiola da Silva in the 66th minute they didn't look back. Midfielder Kitra Walters added another goal three minutes later off of an assist by da Silva and Lizzy Bendrick capped off the Lancers scoring in the 71st minute with a goal on another da Silva assist.

The Lady Senators were able to cut the lead to 3-2 with a goal in the 85th minute on a goal by freshman midfielder Helga Franklinsdottir, but California Baptist was able to hold on over the last five minutes to come away with the 3-2 victory. The Lancers out shot Auburn Montgomery 27 to 16 and had 10 corner kicks compared to zero for the Lady Senators.

California Baptist advances to take on the winner of the match between No. 6 Concordia (Ore.) and No. 11 McKendree (Ill.) on Tuesday at 1 p.m.
