Americus, GA- Three Brenau basketball players not only became the first ones to reach 1,000 points for their career, but they did it in the same game as the Tigers defeated NCAA II Georgia Southwestern on Tuesday 75-64.  The victory was the third straight for Brenau, but the big story was the accomplishment of these three seniors.  Sarah Ledford, a senior post player from Ellijay was the first to hit the milestone when she hit a layup early in the second half to put her at 1,001 points.  Vicky Wilson and Paige Cooper, who scored 19 and 18 points respectively, joined the club soon thereafter with Wilson now at 1,006 and Cooper at 1,000 even.Ledford scored the first basket for the Tigers when the program debuted in 2006 and ended up as the second leading scorer in the inaugural season that saw the team win 10 games.  She was also the program's first all-conference player, being named to the SSAC All Conference Team as a sophomore.  Wilson was the leading scorer her freshman season and has been the main outside scoring threat for the Tigers throughout her career.  She was an SSAC All-Academic selection last year.  Cooper, who has also pulled down nearly 600 rebounds in her career, was an All Conference selection last year.  She is one of the few players that has reached the 1,000 point and 500 rebound plateau in a career.  "These three young ladies are among the first recruits to Brenau basketball and have helped us build a quality program in a short period of time," said Coach Gary Bays.  "They are not just good players, but more importantly, they are great people."  With the win on Tuesday, the Tigers evened their overall record at 50-50.
