ROME, Ga. -- Second-seeded Southern Polytechnic dominated defensively to beat seventh-seed Brenau 58-36 at Darlington's Huffman Athletic Center on Thursday to book a spot in the semifinals of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.

With the win, SPSU improves to 27-4 this season, while BU finishes a 17-14 season.

The Lady Hornets held the Golden Tigers to just 31.6 percent shooting from the floor and did not allow more than 20 points in either half. SPSU forced Brenau into 32 turnovers and scored 34 points off of 22 steals.

Dione Parks hit four 3-pointers to lead the Southern Poly offense with 14 points. Chalescia Hanks also had 10 points and a game-high eight assists for the Lady Hornets.

Ashley Hagan led the Golden Tigers with 11 points. Paige Cooper was the team's second leading scorer with eight points. Brenau was a perfect 9-of-9 at the free-throw line.

As the No. 2-seed, Southern Polytechnic will meet No. 3-seed Shorter Friday at the Forum in the first semifinal game starting at 2 p.m.
