ROME, Ga. -- The fifth-seeded Auburn-Montgomery Lady Senators won with defense in a 38-34 victory over fourth-seeded Emmanuel in the final quarterfinal game of the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament at Darlington's Huffman Athletic Center on Thursday.

The Lady Senators run their win total to 15-14, while the Lady Lions end the season with a record of 18-13.

Cassie Moore had 18 points, 13 rebounds and six blocks to lead the Lady Senators defensive effort. AUM held EC to just 24 percent shooting from the floor, including just 16.7 percent in the first half which ended with AUM leading 14-11.

Ashontti Lewis led Emmanuel with six points and 10 rebounds. Tenea Mann was the Lady Lions' top scorer with nine points

Both teams struggled from the free-throw line as AUM went 15-of-23 and Emmanuel was 6-of-13.

With the win, Auburn-Montgomery books a spot in the semifinals against No. 1-seed Lee tomorrow at 6 p.m. at the Forum on the River.
