Tournament Website with StatsThe Eagles struck for seven runs in the sixth inning to put the game out of reach. While taking advantage of clutch hits, like Ryan Reece's bases loaded double that drove in two runs, the Eagles also took advantage of four Warrior errors in the inning.
Reece was 1-for-3 with three RBIs in the game, while Michael Clayton led the Faulkner batters with a 3-for-4 effort, driving in three runs and scoring twice. Ronald Tarvin and Chris Myles both finished 2-for-3 to help the Faulkner out-hit Southern Wesleyan 12-9. The Eagles also played solid defense while the Warriors committed a total of seven errors.
Despite a shaky start, Eagle's start Jacob Simmons (11-2) recovered to strike out seven batters and earned the complete-game victory when the contest was stopped after seven innings due to run rule. Southern Wesleyan starter Bradley Love (0-5) struck out a pair of batters in the loss.
The Warriors jumped out to an early lead and thanks in part to a two-run homer by Aaron Plummer led 4-1 in the top of the third inning. However, in the bottom of the frame a costly bases-loaded error extended the inning and the Eagles scored four runs to take the lead for good. Plummer's two RBIs led the SWU team, while Yamil Perez finished 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Warriors in total hits.
