COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Fourth-seeded Brewton-Parker scored three runs in the top of the 11th inning and held on for a 12-11 victory over No. 3-seed Southern Polytechnic State on Saturday at Golden Park in the Southern States Athletic Conference Tournament.h  

With the win, the Barons (37-15) remain the only unbeaten team in the double-elimination tournament and set up a first-round rematch with Auburn-Montgomery at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The Hornets (47-10) will face an elimination game against top-seeded Lee on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Pinch hitter Evan Pedrick came off the bench to single in a run in the top of the 11th to put Brewton-Parker ahead. Then a sacrifice fly and a wild pitch gave the Barons two key insurance runs heading into the bottom of the inning.

In the bottom of the 11th, SPSU fired back with a pair of runs and on two occasions brought the potential tying run to the plate, but were stymied by great pitching, including a strikeout to end the game that lasted four hours and 30 minutes.

Drew Parker (1) who had picked up the win in relief for the Barons on Friday came in to shut the door on Saturday and earned his first save of the year. Daniel Eaton (4-3) picked up the win for BPC as the team picked up the extra-inning win. Hunter Dinsmore (2-1) was the losing relief pitcher for Southern Poly.

Brewton-Parker trailed 9-7 in the ninth inning before Robby Kuzdale forced the game into extras with a towering two-run blast over the scoreboard in left field that tied the game. Kuzdale was 2-for-6 in the game and scored twice.

Both teams had spectacular comebacks in the game, as Southern Poly had to rally from a 7-2 deficit early in the game. The Hornets scored two runs in the fifth on RBI hits from Jake Barrow and Gary Owens to make it 7-4. SPSU then took the lead with four runs in the sixth inning, capitalizing on two key BPC errors in the inning. Both squads struggled in the field at times committing a combined eight errors.

Brewton-Parker out-hit Southern Poly 17-13 in the game, with Derrick Fox leading the way with a 4-for-6 effort at the plate. The BPC catcher, Gary Stauff was 3-for-4 with a two-run home run as he finished with four RBIs. Randall Shepherd was 2-for-6 with two RBIs and Josh Barrs also added a pair of his for the Barons.

Andrew Root went 3-for-6 to lead the Hornets batters, while Owens finished the night 2-for-6 with four RBIs and Barrow was 2-for-6 with a pair of RBIs. Josh Grooms also finished 2-for-6 at the plate and scored a pair of runs.

It was the second, consecutive extra-inning game for Brewton-Parker after the team downed Lee in a 15-inning marathon on Friday that lasted 4:35. It was also the third consecutive one-run win for BPC at the tournament.

The SSAC Tournament Semifinal round will take place tomorrow with the following game times:

1 p.m. - Brewton-Parker vs. Auburn-Montgomery
4 p.m. - Southern Polytechnic vs Lee
7 p.m. - SPSU/Lee vs Brewton-Parker OR AUM
