COLUMBUS, Ga. -- Tanner Moore and Edgar Molina hit home runs to help Lee down Brewton-Parker 8-0 Sunday to force a decisive championship game in the Southern States Athletic Baseball Tournament at Golden Park.

The Flames (46-11) won back-to-back elimination games to force the decisive game, piling on 27 runs and allowing just four over 18 innings. The loss was the first of the double-elimination tournament for the Barons (40-16) which defeated Lee in the earlier rounds.

Now, weather permitting, the teams will play a championship game slated to start at 1 p.m. on Monday with the winner being declared the SSAC Tournament Champion.

Already leading 2-0, Lee added three runs off a pair of homers in the third inning. Moore led off the frame with a solo shot to right field and Molina followed up with a two-run blast that sailed high into the night air to put the Flames ahead 5-0.

The lead was just what freshman starter Jamie Haper (3-0) as he threw six scoreless innings to pick up his first tournament win. James Rechenbach and Nolan Rudman also combined with Harper to shutout a Barons squad that scored 34 runs over the first four games of the tournament. Starter Ben Gillespie (2-2) took the loss for Brewton-Parker

Molina finished 2-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs, while Moore also had a pair of hits going 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs. Michael Brown was 1-for-2 and drove in a pair of runs to finish the game tied with SPSU's Gary Owens for the tournament lead of 10 RBIs.

Kale Lewis led the Brewton-Parker hitters with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate. Robby Kuzdale also reached base three times as the patient Brewton-Parker hitters earned a total of eight walks. Derrick Fox stole his fourth base of the tournament and did not commit an error and leads both categories at the tournament.

The Flames have been an offensive juggernaut at the tournament pounding out 59 runs in five games. The Barons have shown a indomitable will to win, scrapping out four consecutive one-run victories before Sunday night's setback. The Barons have also gone late into games playing three straight extra-inning games at the tournament, including a 15-inning win over Lee on Friday.

No matter the outcome of Monday's championship game, both teams will advance to the NAIA National Tournament. Lee, ranked No. 4 in the nation, advances as the regular season champion. Meanwhile, Brewton-Parker will claim the SSAC's automatic bid for the tournament winner, because the regular season champ advanced to the tournament's championship game.
