Faulkner University received its first bid to the NAIA Baseball National Championship Opening Round Friday, and will open against the University of Rio Grande in Daytona Beach, Fla., Tuesday afternoon at 1 p.m. CST.

The Eagles, ranked 16th in the final NAIA poll, are the No. 2 seed at the Daytona Beach grouping, while Rio Grande is the No. 3 seed. Embry-Riddle University is the top seed and the group host. Fourth-seeded Union College will play fifth-seeded St. Thomas University in the first game of the tournament Tuesday morning at 9, with the winner advancing to play Embry Riddle that evening at 5.

The five-team event is double elimination, with the group winner advancing to the 54th annual NAIA World Series May 24-June 4 in Lewiston, Idaho.
