
The Covington, Ga., native was 13-5 on the mound this season with a 0.63 earned run average. She also had three saves. She pitched 111.1 innings this season only allowing 45 hits and 10 earned runs. She had 191 strikeouts and the opposition only managed a .116 batting average.
Richards was more than just a pitcher this season as she was also the team's starting center fielder when she was not on the mound. She led the team with a .444 batting average and scored a team-high 36 runs and led the team in doubles with 21. She added three triples, five homeruns and 29 RBI. Her .759 slugging percentage and .464 on-base percentage were also team-highs.
The sophomore was a 2009 Honorable Mention pick and was earlier named the Southern States Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year. She becomes the first player in AUM softball history to be named to the first team.
