Not even a 90-minute delay could slow the pace of the surging Lee University volleyball team. The NAIA's 4th-ranked Lady Flames zipped to their 19th straight win of the year and pushed their home-court winning streak to 67 with a 30-11, 30-14, 30-19 victory over visiting Southern Wesleyan University.

Southern Wesleyan arrived some one hour late for the scheduled 7 p.m. start. The officials and coach Andrea Hudson allowed the South Carolina club a 30-minute period to warm up, and then quickly coasted to another Southern States Athletic Conference victory.

A highlight of the contest was the 200th career ace served up by senior Melissa Elser. She posted a single ace in the victory but added 16 digs to go along with one kill. Elser has been a four-year starter for the Lady Flames and a key player in the success of the Lee program.

Naiara Fernandes tallied 10 kills, got credit for a dig and added two blocking assists to pace the win. Coach Hudson played every member of the squad freely and the statistic totals were not nearly as high as in many games.

Bruna Langner followed Fernandes with eight kills, three assist, one dig, one block and six blocking assists. Daisy Varbanova countered with five kills, five service aces, one dig, one block and three blocking assists. Rachel Clinton joined the action with five kills, one assist, one dig and one blocking assist.

Lisa Kidwell finished with 17 assists, three aces and five digs. Her understudy freshman Katie Thornton totaled eight assists, one dig and one blocking assist.

The Lady Flames will practice again on Wednesday and then hit the road for Chicago, Ill. and tournament play at Olivet Nazarene on Friday and Saturday. In the first round of pool play, they will be pitted against William Penn University and St. Francis (Ill.).
