
MT. BERRY, Ga. - The Lee University Lady Flames showed why they are ranked No.
2 nationally by the NAIA when they defeated Berry College, 30-20, 30-15, 30-20
in a Southern States Athletic Conference battle on Tuesday evening.
It was the 24th straight win for coach Andrea Hudson's Lady Flames. Not only are they 24-0 overall, but 5-0 in their first year of play in the SSAC. Berry drops to 8-4 overall. The Lady Vikes are 5-1 in conference play.
Naiara Fernandes had 13 kills, two aces and one block to spark the Lee win. Bruna Langner followed with 10 kills, one dig and a pair of blocks. Freshman Melissa Fain garnered six kills, two digs and a block, while Daisy Varbanova countered with six blocks, four kills, two aces and two digs. Missy Elser had 15 digs in the win.
Berry got 15 kills from Amanda Stiefel. She also added nine digs. Jamie Boze tallied 10 kills, eight digs and one block in the defeat.
The Lady Flames will return to action on Thursday at 7 p.m., hosting Shorter College.
