It came down to the last day of the regular season, but the
2004-05 SSAC Women’s Basketball tournament seeding has been
finalized. The last seeds to be set were
the 3/4 and 7/8 slots. Lee lost to
Georgia Southwestern last night giving Berry
the #3 spot and Emmanuel lost to Reinhardt giving Shorter the #7 spot.
The seeding for the tournament will be as follows:
#1 North Georgia 18-2
(22-7)
#2 Brewton-Parker 18-2 (30-2)
#3 Berry 13-7 (20-11)
#4 Lee 12-8 (22-10)
#5 Auburn-Montgomery 12-8 (19-10)
#6 Reinhardt 11-9 (21-10)
#7 Shorter 8-12 (14-15)
#8 Emmanuel 7-13 (15-19)
This marks the first year that all teams were not allowed to
participate in the conference tournament.
Part of the reasoning behind this move was to cut down on travel for
teams. This allows three teams to remain
at home and other teams one less playing day.
An awards banquet will be held on Wednesday night to honor
players from around the league. The
award winners will be posted on the SSAC web site later that night.
By winning the regular season North
Georgia will receive an automatic bid to the NAIA National
tournament. The winner of the SSAC
conference tournament will receive the SSAC’s second automatic bid. If North Georgia
was to win the tournament the team playing them in the championship game will
receive the second automatic bid.
