MT. VERNON, Ga. -- The Faulkner volleyball team dominated the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina Conference tournament this weekend, sweeping all four matches it played in without losing a single game en route to the championship. The Lady Eagles, winners of seven straight, whipped tournament host Brewton-Parker 30-18, 30-17, 30-22 in the title match to improve to 31-19 overall.Faulkner advanced to the championship round with a 30-25, 30-27, 30-27 over Brewton-Parker earlier in the day in the double-elimination event. Brewton-Parker then knocked off Southern Wesleyan in an elimination match to earn the finals' berth.

For the Lady Eagles, it was their second GACC Tournament title in the past three years. The Lady Eagles were paced by senior GACC setter of the year Ashley Seng, who had 97 assists and 21 digs in Saturday's two matches. GACC player of the year Ann Dickson added 22 kills and eight blocks.

Junior outside hitter Brittney Barber had 27 kills and 29 digs for Faulkner, which also got 34 digs, 16 kills and eight blocks from Heather Smith. Others turning in top performances on Saturday were senior Hannah Kilpatrick (19 kills and 17 digs), Samantha Blair (19 kills) and Amanda Banks, who turned in six aces.

"We played great this weekend and this team really earned the championship," Faulkner head coach Rayla Black said. "This group is the most-balanced team we've ever had at Faulkner. They play so well together. We had contributions from everyone on the roster this weekend. I really believe that we're peeking at the right time."

Faulkner travels to Mobile next weekend to compete in the NAIA Region XIII Tournament at Spring Hill College. The Lady Eagles, the third seed in the double-elimination tournament, will be competing for the program's first-ever trip to the national tournament.
