The Faulkner golf team, in only its second season of intercollegiate competition, finished runner-up in the Alabama State University Classic golf tournament Tuesday at the Cypress Tree Course on Maxwell Air Force Base.

The Eagles shot a team score of 325, finishing 16 shots behind tournament winner Alabama State. Faulkner sophomore Michael Watts won medalist honors with a 75, while teammate Michael Dozier turned in a 79.

Finishing third in the seven-team event was Alcorn State, followed by Alabama A&M, Savannah State, Arkansas Pine Bluff and Mississippi Valley State.
