The Georgia Dugout Club recently named Georgia Southwestern State University
baseball coach Bryan McLain the NAIA coach of the year for the state of
Georgia.
In his first year as head coach, McLain guided the Hurricanes to 29-23
record and a 3rd place finish in the Southern States Athletic Conference. The
Hurricanes also received a bid from the NAIA for the Region 13 baseball
tournament held at LSU-Shreveport.
McLain came to GSW in 1996 as a graduate assistant for then head coach
Bill Haywood. He became a full time assistant in 1998 and continued in that
position until July, 2004 when head coach Barry Davis left to take the head
coaching position at Rider University. McLain, a Tifton native, played college
baseball at South Georgia College in Douglas and West Georgia College where he
earned All-American honors as an outfielder.
