Senior Lindsey Sparks went over the 1,000 points scoring mark and helped pace the Lee University Lady Flames to an important Southern States Athletic Conference victory over Southern Wesleyan University, 81-69 on Saturday afternoon.
The win allowed the Lady Flames to remain in a tie with Brewton-Parker College for first place in the SSAC. Both clubs have a 6-1 conference record, while the 13th-ranked Lee club is now 13-3 overall. Coach Marty Rowe's team has now posted nine straight victories.
Sparks finished the game with 20 points, grabbed five rebounds and added two assists to go along with three steals. She has now accumulated 243 points this season for the surging Lady Flames. Spark played two years at Brescia College before coming to Lee with coach Rowe last season.
"Lindsey is very deserving," said coach Rowe. "She is working very hard and is shooting the ball extremely well right now. I'm probably a little partial, but I believe she is the best player in the conference right now."
