Brandon Jennings, a 6’7” senior forward at Reinhardt College, scored his 1,000th point in just his 46th game as an Eagle. Jennings came to Reinhardt after playing two seasons at Division I school, IPFW (Indiana Purdue-Fort Wayne). He averaged 19 points and 7 rebounds as a junior at Reinhardt, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors on a team that finished the regular season with 19 wins and finished fourth in the Southern States Athletic Conference. This year, Jennings leads the country in scoring at 29.15 ppg and also averages 7.8 rebounds. Eagles Head Coach T.J. Rosene said, “What makes Brandon so tough to defend is that he can score in a variety of ways, taking guards into the post and pulling post players out to the perimeter. He is an extremely difficult match at our level.”

Brandon also ranks atop other national statistical categories.  He is 9th in the nation in FT%, shooting 87.5%, which bodes well because he also leads the country in total free throws made, attempted and free throws per game. He is 15th nationally in 3 point field goals made averaging 2.95 a game. Opposing teams have tried all kinds of different schemes against him ranging from a box and one, to full denial, and double teams. Despite the constant and special attention that Jennings has received, he has only scored less than 15 points one time this year.

I a close game against Auburn University of Montgomery on Dec. 9, Brandon reached the 1,000 point total on his final basket of the game. The basket proved to be very important as the Eagles defeated AUM by a score of 63-62 in the contest. Jennings currently stands at 1,164 career points and has a legitimate shot at reaching the 1,500 point plateau later by season’s end.
