CHARLESTON, S.C. - Charleston Southern failed to score in the final three minutes and visiting Southern Wesleyan University closed the game with a 14-0 run as they handed the Buccaneers a 92-88 loss at the CSU Field house on Wednesday night.

Southern Wesleyan improved to 6-3 on the season with the win, overcoming several double-digit deficits to pull out the victory. Charleston Southern led by as many as 16 minutes in the second-half and held a 88-78 advantage with just over three minutes left in the game.

The loss was CSU's first at home this season and drops the Buccaneers record to 5-5 on the season.

Southern Wesleyan forced 24 CSU turnovers, including five in the final three minutes. The Warriors converted the turnovers into 33 points.


The Warriors were led by Josh Walker's 28 points, with Jerans Rapley adding 27 points. Rapley and Walker combined for 12 of the game's final 14 points with Rapley scoring eight points in the final stretch.

The loss offset a pair of career performances for Charleston Southern. Senior point guard Terrell Brown finished with a career-high 12 assists while senior guard Thomas Harrison scored a career-high 22 points. CSU was led in scoring by junior guard Dwayne Jackson, who scored 24 points.


Charleston Southern shot 62.5 percent from the field in the first half en route to a 54-44 hafltime lead. The Bucs cooled considerably in the second-half, shooting 34.4 percent while the Warriors shot 63.6 percent in the final 20 minutes. CSU was out-scored, 25-14, at the free throw line and was out-rebounded for only the fourth time this season.

Charleston Southern returns to action on Friday night, visiting Wake Forest in the first of four consecutive road games. Following the Wake Forest game, the Buccaneers open Big South play with three straight road games.
