Seniors Ashley Green and Holly Hoagland enjoyed a memorable night in Shorter College’s 62 – 40 win over non-conference opponent Covenant College.
Green, a three-time all-conference selection, went over the 1500 career point mark, and Hoagland, a shooting guard, capped the night by reaching the 1000 point plateau. Both players epitomize the term student/athlete. Ashley was selected to the conference all-academic team for 2004 – 05, and Holly has been a two-time selection to the conference all-academic team. Holly and Ashley rank first and second in career three-point percentage and second and third in career three-pointers made, respectively. “Ashley and Holly have contributed so much to our program,” said Shorter coach Vic Mitchell, “and it is fitting they reached these milestones on the same night, because they are also best friends off the court. It was a special night for two special players.” Ashley played scholastically at Gilmer Co. HS in Ellijay, GA, and Holly played at Lincoln Co. HS in Fayetteville, TN.
