Auburn University Montgomery will host the NAIA Tennis Region XIII Championships for both the men and women. The field will be one of the strongest fields among the regional tournaments as 10 of the 12 participating teams are nationally ranked in the latest NAIA poll.
As champions of the Southern States Athletic Conference, AUM will not
only host the event but be the headline programs. The women’s team
continues to sit atop the NAIA rankings, a spot they have held since
the preseason poll. The AUM men moved into the second spot early in
the season and continue to hold down that ranking.
On the women’s side, the remaining six teams are also ranked as Shorter College is seventh and Berry is also in the top 10, as they are ranked ninth. Brenau University is 11th and the University of Mobile is 15th. The sixth team in the regional is Lee University, which is ranked 24th.
On the men’s side, Shorter College is ranked ninth and Berry College comes in ranked 11th. Lee University is ranked 14th. The other two participants are Spring Hill College and Georgia Southwestern State. Neither team was ranked in the last poll.
The first round and the semi finals will be held on Friday, April 21 at Lagoon Park. The first matches of the day will begin at 8:30 a.m. The finals will be held at AUM and will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 22.
Both the AUM and Shorter men and women have been seeded one and two and will receive first round byes. They will then move directly into the semi final round and will face the first round winners. The first round matches are listed below.
