Cameron’s Grand Slam Pushes AUM Into Second Round

Montgomery, Ala.—Josh Cameron hit his first home run of the season, a grand slam, to push AUM to a 9-7 come-from-behind win over Berry College.

AUM trailed 2-0 after Berry scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning off starter Scott Mularz.  AUM came right back in the top of the third and pushed three runs across the plate, two of them on Travis Granberry’s 12th home run of the season.

AUM’s then allowed five runs over the next three innings, three of them unearned, as they entered the eighth inning trailing 7-4.  That was the inning Cameron came in to hit for Matt Arrighi with the bases juiced and only one out.  He sent a fly ball over the right field fence for the final runs and push the Senators to victory.

Mark Presnell came in and pitched the final four innings allowing only one hit and one run in picking up the win.  Jeremy Cameron pitched into the eight inning before leaving the game with the bases loaded and watching Collin McHugh give up the slam to Cameron.

AUM moves to 43-15 on the season and breaks a three game slide with the win.  They move into the second round where they will host Lee University, who enters the game with one loss.  Berry falls to 33-25 and will play Ga. Southwestern in an elimination game later today.
