Former SWU baseball player and current assistant coach taken in recent Frontier League draft
Justin Mckim played parts of last summer in the Golden Baseball League in California before arriving in january to coach the pitchers at Southern Wesleyan. Now he is off to play this summer with the River City Rascals.

McKim was selected in the Frontier League draft held this past Monday and was one of only two players picked up by the Missouri based organization.

During his senior season at Southern Wesleyan, McKim boasted a 7-3 record with 3.63 ERA. He appeared in 14 games, starting all but one. The California native pitched 89 1/3 innings, striking out 77 hitters and walking 33.

McKim was instrumental in the success the Warriors experienced in 2004 as he picked up wins against several nationally ranked opponents including Warner Southern and North Georgia.

A brief stint in the Golden Baseball League last summer provided the California native with some valuable experience that he helped relay to the pitching staff this past spring at SWU. McKim is scheduled to return as pitching coach for Southern Wesleyan later this fall.

"Justin deserves this opportunity to continue playing at the next level," commented SWU head coach Mike Gillespie. He added," he gave us great presence on the mound as a player and really helped our pitching staff this season after arriving in January. I hope he is successful this summer and I look forward to his return later this fall to once again work on our staff."
