Reinhardt College Athletic Director Bill Popp announced on July 24 the hiring of Dee Bell as the new Women’s Basketball Head Coach.

“We are extremely excited to have Dee take over the Women's Basketball program at Reinhardt College. Dee comes to us from a very successful five year stint at Maryville College and brings with him knowledge and energy that will help generate excitement around the campus community” said Popp.

Prior to Reinhardt, Bell spent five seasons at Maryville College in Maryville, Tenn., as the head coach of the Lady Scots. During his tenure at the Division III institution, Bell led the Lady Scots to five regular season conference titles and four tournament championships, four 20-win seasons, and five trips to the NCAA III National Tournament. He was also named Coach of the Year in 2003 and 2005 for the Great South Atlantic Conference.  During his coaching career at Maryville College, Bell posted a record of 107-37

Bell hails from Dawson Springs, Ky., and graduated from Dawson Springs High School. From there, he signed to play basketball at Maryville College and earned a B.S. in Child Development with Teacher Licensure. Bell stayed in Maryville teaching in the Maryville City School System while coaching.

Reinhardt is a member of the Southern States Athletic Conference or SSAC (formerly known as the Georgia-Alabama-Carolina (GAC) Conference) of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Athletics include intercollegiate men’s and women’s basketball, cross country soccer, women’s tennis; men’s golf and baseball; and women's volleyball and fast-pitch softball.

With an enrollment of more than 1000 students, Reinhardt College is a four-year liberal arts institution with a residential Main Campus in Cherokee County (Ga.) and an off campus center in Alpharetta, Ga.
