In the preseason NAIA poll, University of Auburn-Montgomery was listed as the fifth-best team in the country, while Lee University was tabbed at the No. 11 slot, the highest rating ever for a Lee men’s soccer team.  Berry College was also rated highly, capturing the No. 15 spot.

Before facing both AUM and Berry in October, the Lee men will face four other teams in the top 30, including a trip to the Lindsey Wilson College Tournament, where the Flames will take on No. 1 Lindsey Wilson and No. 12 Lindenwood University.  Lee will begin the season against a Virginia Intermont College team that while left out of the rankings, did make the 2005 NAIA National Tournament.

In fact, the Flames defeated the Cobras, 1-0 in the first round of nationals, before falling to Southern Nazarene University, who was ranked third in the nation.  This year’s tournament will be held at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla.
