Tenn. – The “Lady Saints” of North Georgia College and State University
survived a first half scare and advanced to the quarterfinals as they
defeated the “Lady Tigers” of Campbellsville University (Ky.) in a
70-60 victory in the first game of the second round at the 24th Annual
NAIA Division I Women’s National Basketball Tournament.The Lady
Saints trailed by as many as 7 points before going on an 18-4 run to
take an eight point lead at the half. North Georgia put three players
in double digit scoring, led by Angelyn Love with 21 points, followed
by Katie Williamson with 20 points. Brandi Owen added 14 points for the
Lady Saints.
The Lady Tigers of Campbellsville were led in scoring by Tiffany
Roaden with 19 points, followed by Allyson Baker and Miranda Ray with
12 points each. The Lady Tigers end the season with a 23-9 record in
their fifteenth tournament appearance.
The #2 seed North Georgia College and State University (30-5) now
advances into the quarterfinals and will play the winner of the #1 seed
Oklahoma City University against the #4 seed Dillard University (La.)
on Saturday, March 20th. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
