Senior Ligia Zobolli set a new school record with a mind-boggling 13 aces as the Lee University Lady Flames scored a 3-0 Southern States Athletic Conference victory over visiting Reinhardt College in Walker Arena on Tuesday evening.

Zobolli dominated the match while breaking the old record set by Jamie Dennis on Nov. 12, 1998 against Freed Hardeman University. The Lady Flames also set a new team record for service aces with 26 in the 30-16, 30-16, 30-21 triumph. The 26 aces broke the record set by the Lady Flames last year (Oct. 9) against Texas A&M International.

Not only did Zobolli crank out 13 aces, she also registered 10 kills, 13 digs and one block. Senior teammate Bruna Langner continued her fine play with seven kills, five aces, five digs and seven blocks. The Lady Flames improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in SSAC play.

Milica Krsmanovic contributed five kills, 11 assists, two aces and two blocks. Junior Katie Thornton joined in with one kill, 19 assists, a pair of aces and five digs. Vedrana Krsmanovic chipped in with five kills and one block, while Christeena Bertinetti joined the fun with seven kills, one assist, four aces, 10 digs and two blocks.

Reinhardt countered with six kills by Annie Tabler. She also had an assist, one ace and seven digs. Megan Pederson added 10 assists, a pair of aces, five digs and one block.

The record-setting Lady Flames will wait for the competition this weekend, when they play host to their annual invitational tournament. They open against King College on Friday at 12:30, followed by a key showdown with always powerful Georgetown College at 5 p.m.
